Johnny Lee's hit song "Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places" was released in June 1980 as part of the Urban Cowboy movie soundtrack. The song, which Lee initially rejected, became a #1 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop chart. Lee, who had previously been a popular act at Gilley's nightclub, went on to have a successful career in country music, with 17 top 40 hits in the early and mid-1980s. The Urban Cowboy film also popularized country line dancing.
