Iconic star Betty White is known for her humor, quick wit, and long-lasting career.

She's written several books, has had a prolific career starring in Golden Girls, Hot in Cleveland, and many, many other shows and movies, and even hosted Saturday Night Live at 88 years old (via IMDB). White is truly a Jill of all trades.

A self-proclaimed workaholic, the busy star never had kids of her own. Although she did settle down and get married, which made her a stepmother of three, having children never seemed to fit into her lifestyle (via Today I Found Out).

1. Betty White chose to focus on her career

White and late husband Allen Ludden met on the set of his game show, Password, where they subsequently fell in love (via TV Line).

The TV icon hasn't been seriously involved with anyone since his death in 1981, and while White never had any children of her own, she doesn't seem to regret it.

She told Katie Couric on CBS Sunday Morning in 2012, "No, I've never regretted it. I'm so compulsive about stuff, I know if I had ever gotten pregnant, of course, that would have been my whole focus.

But I didn't choose to have children because I'm focused on my career.

2. Being a stepmother was a gift for Betty White

During her 18 year marriage to Ludden (via Southern Living), White was the stepmother to his three children, who were quite young when the pair were married (via Heavy.com).

After his death (when White was 59), she never even considered tying the knot again. She told Larry King, "Once you've had the best, who needs the rest?" (via Pop Sugar).

Actress Sandra Bullock said a comment White made about being a stepmother helped her with her own family. Bullock recalls, "Betty said, 'You know what? I never had children biologically. I married someone who had three children. And how blessed I was to have those three stepchildren.'"
