The Eagles paid tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett at their tour opener in New York City. The band performed two Buffett covers and spoke fondly of their friendship with him. Buffett had opened for the Eagles in 1975 and they formed a lasting bond. He even sang backing vocals on one of their songs in 1979 and inducted them into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. The Eagles and Buffett share a long history together and their tribute was a homage to their friendship.
