Southgate reveals he has had to stop major England star retiring twice
10/09/2023

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker attempted to retire from international football twice under England manager Gareth Southgate, following Euro 2020 and Qatar 2022. However, Southgate persuaded Walker to continue playing for England on both occasions. After scoring his first goal in 77 internationals, Walker revealed that he had considered quitting due to the emergence of younger players and the sacrifices he had made throughout his career. Despite his initial intentions, Walker now wants to continue representing England and achieve more caps. He is considered a critical player in the team and one of the best right-backs in the world.
