Kevin Costner and the producers of Yellowstone have been at odds over shooting the second half of Season 5, which conflicted with Costner's commitments to his own project. Despite the show coming to an end after Season 5, Costner tried to negotiate his return for Seasons 6 and 7. However, a phone call between Costner and creator Taylor Sheridan proved to be the final straw. Costner requested more money, a shorter shooting schedule, and approval over scripts, which Sheridan refused. Paramount Network then pulled their previous offer, and Costner has been paid for Season 5.
